Play therapy provides children to safely explore their past trauma and other difficult issues in a non-evasive, yet empirically proven method. By working through their issues and/or trauma, they gain confidence, develop coping strategies, and experience healing which will be reflected by improved behaviors.
Our clinicians are trained and equipped to work with children from 2 years to 12 years old. Because of the effectiveness of Play Therapy, experiential activities, and art techniques, we often employ these techniques in working with adolescents and adults. These methods employed in Play Therapy can help them overcome difficulties caused by trauma and other complicated issues in their lives.
Parent figures are also given resources, support, coaching and are actively involved in the child’s treatment. Parents are encouraged to attend our Parental Support/Adoption Group or receive some individual coaching as to how best reinforce their child’s treatment at home. Research has shown that family involvement leads to higher success in children’s treatment.
